Ophthalmology products are a specialty of Syprosoft Engineering. We have experience with both visualization and surgical products. Visualization products include a wide-field retina imaging system that was capable of imaging all the way to the ora serrata of the eye, and a 3D surgical microscope which provided depth perception to the surgeon on a wide screen. Surgical products include an intraoperative abberrometer that allowed verification of optical characteristics of an implanted intraocular lens, and hardware and software design to combine and capture the real-time phacoemulsifier display with the microscope video stream. Descriptions of some sample projects follow.
3D Cataract SurgeryDeveloped the software design documents, V&V protocols and reports for a 3D surgical visualization system. Helped prepare a successful FDA 510(k) submission.
Wide-Field Retina ImagingDesigned multi-path multi-lens optics, electronics and fusion software for a prototype wide-field visualization system for the retina. Used Zemax for optimizing the lens system.
Ophthalmic MicroscopeDeveloped high-precision metrology to quantify vibration and angulation for a microscope robot. Designed methods to improve performance characteristics.
Intra-operative AbberrometerFormulated the software verification and validation plan and wrote the test protocols. Prepared test reports for a successful FDA 510(k) submission.
Pupil TrackingDeveloped algorithms and code to track pupil location and collect motion data during eye procedures.
Parallax DetectionDesigned an accessory apparatus to detect parallax in a microscope. Used Zemax for ray tracing and lens design.
Phacoemulsifier VideoDeveloped hardware and software to combine the microscope video with the phacoemulsifier display and create a real-time video for post-surgery playback.
